“Skills for Market Linkage” Project launched in District Khanewal-April 2018

In April 2018, SACHET-Pakistan in collaboration with Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) launched the scheme “Skills for Market Linkage” in district Khanewal  where 175 women are currently enrolled at three centers located in tehsil Mian Channu, Jahanian and Khanewal. Training program includes initial core skills training, business management module, project work followed by market linkages.

The main objective of this scheme “Skills for Market Linkage” is to provide demand-driven training to the rural women in garments sector (Adda Work) and create structured market linkage opportunities enabling them for participation in economic activities.

“Skills for Market Linkage” project envisions to achieve outcomes such as: 1) Businesses are set-up at village level to ensure market linkage with buyers. 2) Provision of tool-kits to ensure sustainable business outcomes. 3) Structured market linkage opportunities for rural females so they have sustainable income streams even after the program concludes.


Defence Day 2016 celebrated at SCDP Pinyali, Rawalpindi

A day long fun fair was held at SCDP Pinyali, located at Main Kahuta Road, District Rawalpindi on 8th September, 2016 jointly organized by SACHET head office and SCDP Pinyali team for the women, girls and School children. The event was organized to celebrate Defence Day of Pakistan by engaging local community members of Pinyali and surrounding villages.
img-20160909-wa0071The event also aimed at sharing the progress and services of SACHET offered at SCDP Pinyali such as health services, job-related trainings such as domestic tailoring, custom designing and beautician courses, educational training such as Computer short courses etc. Furthermore the event aimed to create local support from communities for the long term sustainability of services at SCDP Pinyali. The joint efforts of SACHET’s team, both at SCDP Pinyali and Head Office level made the event successful. img-20160909-wa00291Different activities were organized considering the interest of local community. Stalls were placed for mehendi, handicrafts and food items. Bridal makeup competition was also the part of the fun fair. Qirat, Naat and speech competition took place among the students of local schools (Iqra Model School and Sir Syed School System).
The event formally started at 9:00 am. Visitors took interest in stalls like mehndi design, kid’s garments, handicrafts food, soft drinks etc. Program was hosted by Ms. Sadaf (Teacher of Sir Syed School System), and witnessed by around 200 community members.
Individual segments such as, Qirat, Naat and speech competition among the students of Iqra Model School and Sir Syed School System started at 12:00 noon. Program was started with Qirat competition followed by Naat and speech. Competition between Iqra Model School and Sir Syed School System was going on at one side while brides were getting ready at the same time and stalls were also set for the general public simultaneously. img-20160909-wa0047At the end of competition tablo was performed by Iqra Model School and National song was sung by Sir Syed School System Students. Performances of the competitors were judged by selected community representatives.
Local notables including Qazi Adil Aziz (Chairman UC Sihala Islamabad), Mr. Shahid Malik (Candidate for Chairman UC Sihala Islamabad), Qureshi Anwar (Councilor), Captain (R) Tariq (Social Activist), Mr. Ulfat Hussain (Committee member of SCDP Pinyali), Ms. Ayesha (Local Beautician Trainer), Qazi Hammad Shah (Principal of Iqra model School), Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah (Principal of Sir Syed School System), Raja Arshad Mehmood (Businessman), Mr. Muhammad Faheem (Secretary General SACHET Pakistan), Mrs. Fauzia Faheem (Philanthropist), Syed Hassan Zaidi (Retired DG Port Shipping Additional Secretary Ministry of Communication), and t Mrs. Shehla Hassan Zaidi were present in the event. Security was made sure by officially notifying Mr. Sardar Zulfiqar (SHO of Police Station Kahuta), who deputed suitable number of policemen at the facility. Awards for the best performance in each category were awarded to the students at the end of the event. Winners of Qirat, Naat and speech competition were awarded with trophies and runners up were appreciated with medals. Guests visited stalls and the facility of SCDP Pinyali and appreciated the efforts of SACHET Pakistan for the last sixteen years. The untiring efforts of SACHET Team especially Dr. Ishrat Ehsan (Incharge Medical Officer Pinyali), Mr. Hamid Zaman, Mr. Muhammad Sajid, Mrs. Rukhsana Zahid, Mrs. Yasmeen, Mr. Shamshair Ali, Mr. Muhammad Meherban Husain, Mrs. Maroof Jan, Mr. Waqas Ahmed, Ms. Saima Bashir, Ms. Chaman Malik and all volunteers and well wishers made the event a successful and gave a positive message to the local community of Pinyali and others.


Independence Day 2016 celebrated at SCDP Gagri, District Islamabad

To mark the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan, SACHET organized a full day funfair for women, girls and children at SCDP (SACHET Community Development Program) Gagri located on Japan road Sihala district Islamabad on 16th August 2016. The main objective for organizing the event was to celebrate Independence Day of Pakistan by engaging local community members especially women, girls and children of Gagri and surrounding villages. The event also aimed at sharing the progress and services of SACHET offered at SCDP Gagri such as health services, vocational training including domestic tailoring and beautician courses etc and to generate local support from communities for the long term sustainability of services at SCDP Gagri. SACHET’s team, both at SCDP Gagri and Head Office level jointly organized the event.

Various segments were planned for the event including stalls of embroidery, handicrafts and food items, bridal makeup competition, speeches, tablos, national songs and naat competition among the students of craft centre, beautician training centre and students of local schools. A huge number of women and children of Gagri and adjacent villages participated in the event. Local notables including Mrs. Farah Naz (Principal F.G Model Girls High School Gagri), Mrs. Salma (Principal Ali Model School Gagri), Ms. Safeena (lady Councilor), Dr. Ishrat (In charge Medical officer SCDP Pinyali), Mr. Muhammad Saghir Abbasi (Social Activist), Chaudhry Nasir (Vice Chairman Local Council Gagri), Chaudhry Amir (Councilor) and Qari Zubair (Imam Masjid Gagri), were also present in the event. Security was ensured by formally informing SHO of Police Station Sihala, who deputed appropriate number of policemen at the facility.

After the prize distribution ceremony, guests visited the facility of SCDP Gagri and appreciated the continued efforts of SACHET Pakistan for the last seventeen years. The notables including Mr. Muhammad Saghir Abbasi, Chaudry Nasir and Chaudry Amir showed their commitment to support SCDP Gagri for the up-gradation of existing services and appreciated the efforts of SACHET team.

Jashn-e-Azadi fun fair 2016 was marked as a successful event and gave a positive message to the local community of Gagri. It was made possible because of the untiring efforts of SACHET Team especially Dr. Kanwal Riaz, Mr. Hamid Zaman, Mr. Jacob Samuel, Ms. Saira Bano, Ms. Tahira Jabeen, Mr. Muhammad Rizwan, Mr. Muhammad Nawaz, Ms. Bilquis Bibi, Mr. Waqas Ahmed, Ms. Saima Bashir, Ms. Chaman Malik and all volunteers and well wishers.


Anti-Measles Campaign in ICT 12,000 children vaccinated

Anti Measles Campaign concluded in ICT, 12000 children received vaccination.

In January 2015, SACHET joined hands with Directorate of Health Services (DHS) CDA Islamabad to form a consortium as a public private partnership with an objective to initiate universal health coverage program as a part of its health equity model for the inhabitants of Islamabad Capital Territory. SACHET deputed 12 skilled vaccinators for the Anti-Measles Campaign in Islamabad Capital Territory and 12,000 children were vaccinated till Feb 2015 in the localities of Bari Imam, Rawal dam, Rawal Town, Staff colonies of PM House, KPK House, Punjab House, Sindh House and Wapda House.
